WWE Monday Night RAW 08 24 2009

August 24, 2009 – Las Vegas, Nevada
Announcers: Michael Cole & Jerry “The King” Lawler

Randy Orton & Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes) + Brett DiBiase: Randy Orton, with Legacy by his side, talked about his successful WWE championship title defense against John Cena at SummerSlam. Orton said that it turns out the “fan” that interfered in the match wasn’t just a fan, but the brother of Ted DiBiase Jr. – Brett. Ted said that he didn’t even know his brother bought a ticket to SummerSlam and neither did Randy Orton. Cody Rhodes said that it didn’t matter because Orton would have won anyway!

Vince McMahon + Degeneration X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) + Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes) + WWE champion Randy Orton: Vince McMahon said that tonight’s guest host, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, was not there yet. Vince said that last night’s WWE championship match was full of controversy, but the referee’s decision was final. Vince said John Cena will get a rematch at a PPV called “Breaking Point,” where the main events will be submission matches. Vince said that John Cena’s rematch for the WWE championship will be an I Quit match, and if anybody interferes on behalf of Randy Orton, he will be immediately stripped of the WWE title. DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) interrupted and HHH remarked that he didn’t like good guy Vince McMahon – saying “it’s creepy.” HHH said there has to be a reason that he’s in such a good mood. Shawn Michaels said today is August 24th and that means it’s somebody’s birthday! HHH said it was Vince’s 84th birthday, then brought it down to 70, before Vince blurted out “I’m 64!” DX teased Vince for admitting that in front of the entire world. Michaels called McMahon a pioneer, a genius, and the reason everybody watches WWE television. Michaels showed a tribute video for Mr. McMahon – which, of course, ended with footage of Vince singing “stand back” and some of Vince’s more humiliating moments (getting his head shaved etc). Next they brought out a big birthday cake and sang happy birthday. HHH talked about the memo that stated you can’t celebrate birthday’s on live TV. They brought out some Vegas show-girls. Vince may or may not have been in on this portion of the segment. Next they brought out a couple of Cirque de Solie guys, and Vince remarked “those masks are really GAY.” Finally they brought out an Elvis impersonator. Elvis gave Vince his sun glasses and tried to get him to shake his hips. Elvis led the singing of Happy Birthday, and Vince said “thank you very much, thank you!” The grand finale saw Big Dick Johnson jump out of the cake and dance around in the ring until Vince grabbed him and threw him out to the floor! DX asked everyone to leave because the next part would be a private moment. DX tried to position Vince in the ring while looking up at the ceiling. Legacy members Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes suddenly attacked from behind, but DX fought back and dumped them out of the ring. Randy Orton joined Legacy on the stage. Triple H booked all three members of Legacy against DX and Vince McMahon! Vince added that the match would be no disqualification rules! Vince shouted “and if you’re not down with that, I got two words for ya!” And the fans yelled “SUCK IT!!” Vince then put a DX hat on (never thought I’d see the day.)

Mike “The Miz” Mizanin defeated Santino Marella: What the heck did Santino do to deserve this? After the match, the Miz said he was one step closer to defeating Kofi Kingston and becoming the NEW United States champion!

Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes & Alicia Fox defeated Mickie James & Gail Kim & Kelly Kelly: Basically this is the same thing we see every week, except the girls are weaing sexy Boxing gear. Alicia Fox pinned Mickie James to win the match – what the HELL?

Degeneration X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels): Shawn Michaels tried to express his concern about teaming with Vince McMahon. They briefly plugged the WCW DVD and some DX merchandise. They talked more about Vince McMahon, and agreed that he should be fuming right about… NOW!

Vince McMahon + Jillian Hall: Jillian Hall was dressed as Marilyn Monroe and sang “happy birthday” to Vince McMahon until he yelled at her to “GET OUT!!”

Chris Jericho & The Big Show + Floyd “Money” Mayweather w/Posse + Montel Vontavious Porter: The Big Show said he hasn’t forgotton about WrestleMania, so he and Floyd Mayweather had some unfinished business. Big Show said he wouldn’t leave the ring until Mayweather showed his face. Backstage, Floyd Mayweather showed up with his posse – who were all wearing goofy shirts advertising Mayweather’s next fight! After the commercial, Floyd “Money” Mayweather made his way to the ring surrounded by his lame posse. Mayweather got in the ring while his posse surrounded it. Mayweather said Big Show remembers what happened at WrestleMania and he would do it again tonight but he has a September 14th PPV bout that was more important. Jericho got in Mayweather’s face and said he thought Mayweather was over-rated. Jericho predicted that Juan Marquez would knock Mayweather out! Big Show threatened to wipe Mayweather from the planet. This is the kind of segment that is difficult to recap. Montel Vontavious Porter came out to the stage to defend Mayweather. MVP insulted Big Show, and Jericho told MVP to watch what he says about his friend! MVP told Jericho to shut up! MVP said if somebody would beat them for the Unified Tag Team titles, Jericho would have to go back to SmackDown!. Big Show asked who was going to beat them for the titles? MVP asked Mayweather to give him a title match if he can find tag team partner. Mayweather said he liked the idea, and asked if MVP had somebody in mind. MVP said he did, and out came the “World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry!

Montel Vontavious Porter & Mark Henry defeated Unified Tag Team champions Chris Jericho & The Big Show: The stipulation was that if MVP & Mark Henry won the match, they would get a title match at Breaking Point. Floyd Mayweather took a seat at ringside to watch the match up-close. They are building towards a feud between Mayweather and Chris Jericho. Late in the match, Mayweather slid a set of brass knux (the same ones he used to knock out Big Show at WrestleMania) in and MVP used them to knock out Chris Jericho for the win! MVP & Mark Henry celebrated with Floyd Mayweather, while Big Show carried the unconcious Jericho backstage over his shoulder.

Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes) & Brett DiBiase + Randy Orton: Randy Orton dismissed Brett DiBiase to talk directly to Legacy. Orton talked about making this the last decision Vince McMahon ever makes!

Hornswoggle defeated Chavo Guerrero by DQ: The referee forced Chavo Guerrero to wear giant boxing gloves, as ordered by “guest host” Floyd Mayweather. After a minute of comedy, Chavo took off his gloves and slammed Hornswoggle causing the disqualification! Chavo climbed to the top rope and went for a Frog Splash but Evan Bourne ran down to cut him off! Evan knocked Chavo down and hit him with a Shooting Star Press!

Vince McMahon & Floyd Mayweather + Carlito Colon + DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels): Vince McMahon was training with Floyd Mayweather, when Carlito came in and demanded a rematch with Kofi Kingston. DX came in and said something about getting busy with Vince’s daughter. Mayweather held the pad up to Carlito’s face and Vince punched him out cold!

Vince McMahon & DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) defeated Randy Orton & Legacy (Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes): Late in the match, Randy Orton lined up to kick Vince McMahon in the head, but Shawn Michaels intercepted! Orton tried to back away from the ring and retreat. However, he was chased back to the ring by the arrival of John Cena! Cena planted Orton with an RKO and Vince McMahon pinned him to win the match for his team! I guess he also gained some revenge for everything Orton did to the McMahon family..
