WWE Smackdown Live kicks off with a Roman Reigns video package. We see the different incidents Reigns has been involved in the past few weeks.
We cut to the arena where we see Roman Reigns walking backstage. He is stopped by Kayla who asks him about Bryan demanding an apology for accusing Rowan of attacking him. Roman says he has something to tell them but he thinks it’s better to save it for the ring.
The New Day’s music hits and out comes WWE champion Kofi Kingston. We cut to last week’s Smackdown Live where Randy Orton said that Kofi ran from a fight at Summerslam as well as his recent attacks on the champion.
Kofi gets on the mic and says that Orton likes to slither around the ring, calling Kofi stupid. But Kofi asks who got their ass knocked out last week out of no where. Things have escalated between them but Orton took it to a whole new level when he made it personal. All Kofi ever wanted was to prove that he belonged at the top and deserved to be champion. But Orton didn’t want that, he made it personal when he dragged Kofi’s family into it. When he and The Revival tried to take out Xavier Woods. But the last thing we saw after he knocked out The Revival was Randy Orton slithering, crawling up the ramp with fear in his eyes. And the reason being that he saw the look in Kofi’s eyes. One that says when you mess with his family, he doesn’t play around.
Kingston says the match is set. It will be one on one at Clash of Champions for the WWE title. And he gets to show and prove to Orton that he was wrong about him all those years ago. He was ready then and he is ready now. And at Clash of Champions, he will know why he is the WWE world heavyweight champion.
Orton shows up on the big screen as he repeadetly says stupid. Orton says there’s nothing he would rather do other than go to the ring and beat him up. But he has something to say. Orton had a knock on his hotel door earlier today and a letter was slid under the door. He reads the letter:
“Dear Mr. Orton. Stop hurting Kofi Kingston, Kofi is not stupid, Kofi is a good man but you are a mean man Mr. Orton. So men that you make my hero Kofi cry at night. You know how I know this? Because Kofi is not just my hero, he is my dad. Signed, Ky.”
Orton says it was touching. Very touching letter. But he is staying in the same hotel as Kofi’s family. He doesn’t need to become pen palls with his son Ky. He can simply go pay him a visit right now. Orton throws the letter and walks away. We see Kofi leave the ring and go to the back.
We cut backstage as Kofi and Orton are fighting. In come WWE officials to break it up but Kofi continues to beat up on Randy Orton. The two fight back and forth. Orton ultimately hits Kofi with a DDT. Orton calls Kofi stupid and leaves.

The Miz says why doesn’t he get in the ring and beat some respect into him. Zayn says that’s not how it works. They don’t do things on his team. Miz says why doesn’t he go out and beat respect into him. Zayn backs up and tells Miz he will make a mistake.
