How they have mentally and physically prepared for their “Tag Wars 2010” Semi-Final Match (vs. Colt Cabana & El Generico) this Friday night in Richmond, VA, in what could be the most important match of their young careers & how they believe the tournament was built for them specifically: (King) “When this whole ‘Tag Wars’ thing first started, we told everyone that there was no other option than the final match. That was the only thing that would satisfy us. We’ve been training, Rhett & I have gelled into such a cohesive unit that we know each other going to be in the ring, and we are such a well-oiled machine. That was the goal on The All Night Express serious tip, and we are not looking past Colt Cabana & Generico, but the train don’t move. We are going to keep rolling, and we gonna stay that way until The Kings of Wrestling, and we’re gonna take those belts from around their waists.” (Rhett) “I saw that ‘Tag Wars’ was specifically build for Kenny & I. The ROH booking committee never really gave me or Kenny any real big opportunities, and you what, we are taking our big opportunities now. We made it to the semi-finals of ‘Tag Wars,’ and we are going to make it to the finals. We have Colt Cabana & El Generico. We know all about these guys. We’ve been in the ring with those guys before, maybe not as a tag team, but we are going to take these guys down. The thing is they are not even thinking about us. They are so wrapped up in the whole Steve Corino/Kevin Steen saga that the last thing on their minds is Kenny King & Rhett Titus, and that will be their ultimate demise in Tag Wars 2010.”
What they have learned from their manager, Austin Aries, that has helped them get to this point in their careers, being one step shy of the Finals in “Tag Wars 2010”: (Rhett) “What have I learned from Austin Aries? Everything I know I learned from Austin Aries. As many people know, Austin Aries was my trainer at the Ring of Honor Wrestling Academy, and just because he’s not at the academy anymore doesn’t mean I stopped learning from him. I have always continued learning from him, and once he put me & Kenny under his wing, that’s when we really started to learn. He’s given us great on-the-job experience.”
How they have gelled together & become such a well-oiled machine in such a short time together: (King) “We are very similar dudes. When I looked around the ROH locker room when I was first signed, there weren’t many dudes like me back there. When Rhett & I first joined forces in Montreal almost two years ago, it was a natural click & a natural fit. We have the same mindset; we both had the same ideology as far what we want to do in the wrestling business; how we are both young, aesthetically-gifted & poised to take it over. The more we sent time together & the more we tagged together, it became unconscious, and we didn’t even have to think about it. It just became second nature, and that’s how great tag teams are formed.”
Their thoughts/comments to the critics that may feel that Ring of Honor could potentially be in rough shape with the departure of ROH World Champion Tyler Black, along with the other changes that have taken place within the company over the past several weeks & how they (as a team) are going to step up in the coming weeks/months ahead: (Kenny) “Listen the sky has fallen at least four times in Ring of Honor. AJ (Styles), (“The Fallen Angel”) Christopher Daniels, & Samoa Joe left, and ‘Oh my god, the sky is falling.’ It didn’t fall. Gabe (Sapolsky) is gone, ‘Oh my god the sky is falling.’ We didn’t go anywhere. (Adam) Pearce is gone, ‘Oh my god, the sky is falling.’ Tyler Black is leaving. The thing about Ring of Honor in a word is resiliency. The thing that is always going to keep ROH alive is everybody in that locker room is hungry. Everyone in that locker room is talented, and everyone in that locker room has the ability, if called upon, to put the company on their back and run with it.” (Rhett) “With all these guys leaving, it’s no better time for me & Kenny to step up. We’ve been doing that all 2010, and we are gonna keep on doing it for 2010, and by the time 2011 hits, we’re gonna be there, and we’re gonna be at the top. You talk about breaking this glass ceiling. Myself & Kenny don’t break glass ceilings, because we live in houses with no ceilings, because there is no level that we can’t excel to, because we keep on climbing & climbing to the top.”
