Introduction

The dvd starts off with comments from Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, James Storm, Jeff Jarrett, Christopher Daniels, Abyss, Tomko, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Rhino,

They talk about what it’s like to bleed in a match: their feelings, the smell and taste, explaining to family, trying to see through the crimson mask, and more. The wrestlers also comment before each match.

Chapter 1

Turning Point 2005

NWA Heavyweight Championship Match
Jeff Jarrett (C) vs. Rhino

This is a terrific. brutal match between two under appreciated wrestlers, so I was happy to see it included here. They brawl all over the arena, with both men selling the carnage beautifully – they don’t overdo it, so every blow is believable. This bout isn’t just bloody and violent, it’s well wrestled. I enjoyed the added replays of high spots shot from different angles.
Lockdown 2006

Lethal Lockdown
Sting’s Warriors
Sting, AJ Styles, Rhino, & Ron “The Truth” Killings
vs.
Jarrett’s Army
Jeff Jarrett, Chris Harris, James Storm, & Scott Steiner with Gail Kim & Jackie Gayda

Weapons are hung from the roof of the steel cage in this eight man, no holds barred free for all. Where else are you going to see Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Ron Killings, Rhino, James Storm and Chris Harris doing a Tower of Doom? Even with all the gore and mayhem, the most memorable spot in this match is when AJ Styles puts James Storm on a table on top of the cage, then climbs a ladder to reach a lighting truss in the ceiling, and flies off that to put Storm through the table.
Bound for Glory 2006

NWA Tag Team Championship Match
AJ Styles & Chris Daniels (C)
vs.
LAX, Homicide & Hernandez with Konnan

This steel cage match was the most vicious match in the epic feud between these two tag teams. Styles and Daniels are one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and any match they were in could arguably be on a “Best Of” DVD. Both teams excel at high flying, making this match a unique mix of blood, brutality, and grace.

Chapter 2

TNA iMPACT! 2006

Barbed Wire Six Sides of Steel Cage Match
Christian Cage vs. Rhino

To win, the wrestler must escape the cage, which has barbed wire all around the top. Old friends turned bitter enemies pull out all the stops in this violent, gory feud. This was on free tv, but it’s a PPV quality match. The one change I’d make here, is that I would have included the action during the commercials and let the match run straight though, even if it meant that there would be pauses in the commentary.
Genesis 2006

Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe
This is the first match between Angle and Joe. I’m no fan of Samoa Joe, because I just don’t find him at all believable, but their styles mesh well, and Angle goes all out here to make Joe look as credible as possible. Angle proves here that he really could have a good match with the proverbial broom.
Destination X 2007

Last Rites Match
Sting vs. Abyss

Abyss, the most hardcore wrestler in TNA, talks briefly about his character’s psychology before this match. This is a classic bloody brawl, and a must see for any fan of hardcore wrestling.

Sacrifice 2007

Falls Count Anywhere Match
“Cowboy” James Storm vs. “Wildcat” Chris Harris

Former friends and tag team partners make the best enemies. Wrestlers so familiar with their opponent’s style have the most vicious and deadly feuds. This festival of mayhem should delight even the most bloodthirsty fan.

Chapter 3

Slammiversary 2007

No DQ Match
Tomko vs. Abyss

This violent and bloody brawl involves tacks, broken glass, a barbed wire bat and other weapons as the two big men brawl all over the arena. The big finish, when Abyss Black Hole Slams Tomko onto a pile of broken glass, is a terrific climax to this gory battle.
Against All Odds 2008

Barbed Wire Massacre
Abyss vs. Judas Mesias with Father James Mitchell

For this masterpiece of mayhem, the ring ropes have been replaced by barbed wire which has been woven together to look like a sort of spider web strung around the ring. Referee Earl Hebner wears long sleeves and leather gloves to protect himself. Abyss and El Mesias make full use of the barbed wire around the ring, as well as the weapons at ringside, all wrapped in barbed wire.
I recommend this dvd to fans of hardcore, as well as wrestling fans who would like to get a look at the extreme side of TNA.
