WRESTLING BABYLON Author Muchnick
Launches St. Louis Media Appearances And Book Signings

Irvin Muchnick, author of WRESTLING BABYLON: Piledriving Tales of Drugs, Sex, Death, and Scandal (ECW Press) – the hot new book about pro wrestling behind the scenes – is scheduled for a round of book signings and media appearances in his native St. Louis .

Muchnick will be at the Pro Wrestling Shirt Shop at the South County Mall on Thursday, June 21, at 7 p.m. The Pro Wrestling Shirt Shop is the home of the new St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame, whose charter inductees include his late uncle, legendary promoter and National Wrestling Alliance president Sam Muchnick. A crowd estimated at 500 attended the Hall’s opening in February.

The author will be introduced by Larry Matysik, the long-time voice of “Wrestling at the Chase,” which set local TV ratings records as well as the quality standard for televised wrestling. Matysik, himself a St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee, is author of Wrestling at the Chase: The Inside Story of Sam Muchnick and the Legends of Professional Wrestling, and co-author of the forthcoming Brody: The Triumph and Tragedy of Wrestling’s Rebel.

Irvin Muchnick also will be at the Borders bookstore in the Sunset Hills Plaza on Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m.

In addition, Muchnick will make his first St. Louis media appearance for WRESTLING BABYLON as the guest of Brian Stull’s “The Stranglehold” on KFNS, 590 AM, on Tuesday, May 29. The show airs from 7 to 9 p.m. and streams live on the Internet at http://kfns.com. The May 29 edition of “The Stranglehold” will emanate from the Pro Wrestling Shirt Shop.

WRESTLING BABYLON is the second-best-selling title in its category in current Amazon rankings (the only book ahead of it is the latest New York Times bestseller by World Wrestling Entertainment’s Mick Foley). Frank Deford says, “Irv Muchnick knows wrestling like Anna Wintour knows fashion.” The New York Post calls WRESTLING BABYLON “a book that Vince McMahon no doubt wishes was never published.” John Heidenry, author of the new St. Louis baseball history book The Gashouse Gang, says WRESTLING BABYLON “is the literary link between fans (including closet intellectuals) and intellectuals (including closet fans).”
