5/4 Raw TV results from Buffalo, NY: Kofi Kingston over Matt Hardy; Cody Rhodes over MVP; Mickie James over Maryse in a non title match; Ted DiBiase over Batista; Carlito over Brian Kendrick; and Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase vs. Shane McMahon was a no contest.

In Brief: Matt Hardy is still wrestling under protest with his broken metacarpal… Santino is now babyface as well as a comedy genius…
John Cena vs. Big Show was officially added to Judgment Day with the storyline that Cena won’t be medically cleared to wrestle until the PPV… William Regal attacked MVP during his match kicking off a new program for the U.S. title… Festus got some television time in a horrible singing competition skit against Jillian HallThe Miz‘ push continued with more smack talk at Cena… Maryse vs. Mickie James for the Women’s title is also looking likely for the PPV… Chavo is the new Triple H suggesting stipulations to Vince McMahon, or in this case, Vickie Guerrero… The show concluded with a strong injury angle with Orton smashing Shane’s leg with a steel chair and ring steps. Legacy has now taken out the entire McMahon family, except for Linda and the grandkids.

The Smackdown tapings are tonight from the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh with Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho as the main event. They are also taping Christian vs. Mark Henry as the main event for tonight’s ECW, and there is a Cutting Edge segment with Jeff Hardy as the main event of superstars. Batista is headed to Louisiana this week with Rob Van Dam shooting a movie called Wrong Side Of Town. Not sure which part Batista is playing but the movie is about a former Navy Seal called Bobby Kalinowski who accidently kills a mob boss. The brother of the mob boss puts a bounty on Kalinowski’ head and the idea is he has to escape LA while being hunted down by wise guys and thugs in the city.

The pre show dark match at Raw last night was Goldust over Chavo Guerrero. For Superstars they taped Kelly Kelly & Santina vs. Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres. After the cameras stopped rolling Cena made a miraculous recovery to team with Batista over Legacy in the post-show dark match.

Triple H is booked for house shows after Judgment Day which would mean he is either returning unadvertised at the PPV or shortly afterwards.

Candice Michelle is currently in Hawaii rehabbing her ankle.

WWE’s lawsuit against the IAHL Corporation was settled on 4/23. The company had filed suit claiming $1,176,470.59 in money owed over sponsorship at Wrestlemania 23. Judge Clay D. Land closed the case after a settlement was reached.

The Bella Twins face off against the Ikki Twins in the Hottest Twins category at Spike TV’s Guys’ Choice Awards. The show airs on Spike on 6/21.. There are also nominations for Brock lesnar (Most Dangerous Man), Mickey Rourke (Guy of the Year) and Marisa Tomei (Best Unsupported Role).

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

There was a scary situation over the weekend during a show put on by Ohio-based Dynamic Wrestling Alliance. One of their guys who goes by the name of Regulator was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital from Fayette with a neck injury, a broken jaw, and several missing teeth. We’re told he also suffered seizures and at one point stopped breathing en route to the hospital. The injuries occurred during a ladder match when Regulator’s opponent drop kicked a ladder into his head. He is currently listed in critical condition in intensive care.

Sporting events in Mexico are expected to be back to normality by 5/11, some slightly earlier, following the recent swine-flu outbreak. The WWE cancelled it’s tour at the end of the month out of fear that one of their guys may catch something.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been attached to star as Captain Nemo in a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The film is slated to film later this year in Australia… On a related note, Johnson was just nominated for the MTV Best Villain Movie Award for his role in Get Smart, while Bruce Springsteen’s The Wrestler was nominated for MTV’s Best Song From a Movie Award.

Former WWE wrestler Aaron Aguilera has a cameo in The Expendables which is currently shooting in Brazil with Mickey Rourke and Steve Austin.

WSOC-TV in Charlotte, NC at http://tinyurl.com/c2jeq6 has a story on the growing concern over trafficking of black tar heroin. They noted the recent case of Reid Flair saying he crashed his car (which wasn’t known until now) when reporting the story.

From a reader in Kentucky: “I watched the first episode of the Vyper Fight League tonight. That is JBL’s new MMA organization. The hour long show only had 3 (short) fights. It did manage to kill about 20 minutes by showing a short speech by Danny Davis. A little longer speech by Bruce Prichard and then about 15 minutes of JBL chasing people around the building throwing fire crackers at them. It looks like they are going to hold one show a month and then pull four TV episodes from that.”
