WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

6/8 Raw Tv results from Lafayette, LA: Kofi Kingston over William Regal; Maryse over Kelly Kelly to retain the divas title; Goldus, Festus & Santino over Jamie Noble, Chavo Guerrero & The Brian Kendrick; MVP over Matt Hardy; Legacy over Carlito & Primo to win a future title shot; and Batista vs. Randy Orton for the WWE title just didn’t happen.

The Smackdown/ECW tapings are tonight from the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS with Tony Atlas vs. Evan Bourne planned tonight for ECW. As always we’re looking for reports from both shows to [email protected].

With three weeks to go until the next WWE PPV, The Bash, the show formerly known as The Great American Bash in Sacramento on 6/28, Vince McMahon told the creative team that certain talent were not to be used on television for the foreseeable future. Eddie Fatu (Umaga) was fired although he is telling family and friends that he quit. Vickie Guerrero did legitimately quit as she had given notice a few weeks ago. The reason she gave for leaving was that she doesn’t like being away from her daughters. Dave Batista was also written out of TV in an injury angle. He is injured but as far as how injured is anyone’s guess. This past weekend the WWE leaked out the story that Batista had a biceps tear, which later changed to a tendon tear, and said he would be undergoing surgery on Tuesday (today). The injury supposedly happened a few weeks back but Batista hasn’t really showed any signs of a new injury nor has he worked with his arm taped up which one would think would be the case for that type of injury. The gossip in the locker room yesterday afternoon when the Raw script was finally produced after some rewrites was that the injury angle was a smokescreen to help him avoid a Wellness Program violation. The true severity of the injury may never be known. WWE.com ran a story today claiming that, “Batista has suffered a completely torn left biceps requiring surgery that will keep him out of action for at least four months.”

Most of the crew were told yesterday that the company would be drug testing either this weekend in New York or next Monday at TV. That didn’t turn out too well in Tampa when they tested developmental talent last month which has so far led to four confirmed releases and at least two suspensions. The policy on drug test failures for the last two years has been to publicly announce all failures but that policy doesn’t seem to exist any more. What is telling is that they have just put the World title on CM Punk — The Straight-Edge Superstar — who doesn’t drink or do drugs. That decision was made late Saturday night, before the PPV, and came out of left field, as Punk himself had been told that he would work a program towards the end of the year leading to his title shot.
The plan at the Smackdown tapings tonight is to turn him into a fully fledged heel. As far as the WWE title and Raw GM picture is concerned that will be addressed next Monday in a live three-hour tri-branded show from Charlotte with the Raw, Smackdown and ECW  titles all being defended. Ric Flair has been booked for the show and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what his future role will be.

TNA has purchased ad time during the UK Raw broadcast on Sky Sports to push their tour in January.

The matches taped for Superstars last night were Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes vs. The Bella Twins; and John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho. The dark match was Evan Bourne over SOS.

Fox are planning a WWE special edition of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader. No word yet as to who will be on the show.

Smackdown last Friday did a 1.9 rating, its highest rating since Wrestlemania.

There is a story on WWE referee John Cone at http://tinyurl.com/l7jv5f looking at a donut store he runs with his wife in Kansas City. The story noted that the Cones are third-generation Donut King owners.

The Randy Savage DVD goes os sale today. You can order at www.wrestlingshop.com with free shipping. WWE has also produced a DVD from the April tour of the UK which will go on sale later this month.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

The company is looking at bringing in some Mexican talent through Hector Guerrero. There have already been preliminary discussions with CMLL star Mistico and Cibernetico about coming in for at least one shot. Mistico has been the biggest draw in Mexico for the past three years. TNA and WWE have both tried to sign him in the past but he didn’t want to commit to a contract.
