In the near four year history of WSU, the careers of Angel Orsini & Mercedes Martinez were always intertwined. They debuted as a tag team together. Won tag championships together. Put on the best matches in the company’s history. They made history in an epic 70 minute Ironwoman match, the longest match in professional womens wrestling history. On 1/22, they did it one more time, in a monumental 40 minute Title vs Title Ladder match, writing the “Final Chapter” in their storied feud together.
This match is being praised as the best womens ladder match in womens wrestling history by critics all over the wrestling industry. At the 40 minute mark, Mercedes Martinez grabbed both the WSU World & WSU All Guts & No Glory championships, to become the Undisputed World Champion of WSU. Martinez, who already has defended the WSU World Championship in separate continents and being seen all over the world through DVDs and iPPV’s, solidified herself as the greatest womens wrestler today by defeating her toughest rival of all time, Angel Orsini.
The two fought an all-out war, that saw both women shorten their careers with death defying moves and awe inspiring action. It is a match that the live crowd would stand on their feet for. It was a match that made the entire WSU locker room watch. It was a match that all future women ladder matches will be compared to. After nearly four years of trying to prove who was the best in WSU, with both wrestlers having a valid argument for that title, Martinez established her superiority over a world class athlete in Angel Orsini.
Niya d. Athena in a match between two WSU rookies. Both looked very impressive in their quest to climb up the WSU ranking ladder.
The Boston Shore d. Jennifer Cruz & Monique. After the match, The Boston Shore called out April Hunter & Traci Brooks for WSU’s 3/5 “Fourth Anniversary Show” iPPV.
Amy Lee d. Latasha & WSU Tag Champion Tina San Antonio. This was a wild match that put the Uncensored in WSU.
Jamilia Craft d. Allysin Kay in another match of WSU newcomers. Despite the loss Kay looks like a future force to be reckoned with in WSU. After the match, Jennifer Cruz attacked Jamilia Craft. Cruz said that Craft has been looking for Cruz on previous WSU shows, and now she will have her at WSU’s 3/5 iPPV.
Jana d. Cindy Rogers & WSU Tag Champion Marti Belle. After the match, Amy Lee & Rogers, members of the Cosmo Club attacked Marti Belle & Jana. Tina San Antonio & Latasha, ran out to help their Belles Saints & Soul Sisters partners, respectively. A crazy brawled ensued. When the dust was all clear, The Belle Saints said while they were on the short end of the stick tonight, they will be ready for both the Cosmo Club & The Soul Sisters in a Triple Threat Uncensored Rules match at WSU’s 3/5 iPPV for the WSU Tag Team titles.
Alicia & Sassy Stephanie d. WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage & Rick Cataldo when Sassy Stephanie pinned Rick Cataldo after a “Kiss My Sass”. This was a breakthrough match for Sassy Stephanie, who made clear afterwards that Brittney Savage would be on her back at the WSU 3/5 iPPV when Stephanie challenges for the Spirit Championship. Alicia also said she will be ready for Jazz at the 3/5 WSU iPPV and reminded everyone that she still had an open contract to challenge for any championship in WSU, by virtue of her win over Nikki Roxx on 12/11.
Jessicka Havok d. Nikki Roxx in an Uncensored Rules match. This match was the coming out party for Jessicka Havok, as she extended her undefeated singles record in WSU by defeating the former WSU World Champion Nikki Roxx. Nikki Roxx is now on a losing streak in WSU and it should be interesting to see how she bounces back at the WSU 3/5 iPPV. Jessicka Havok also made it clear that she’s now wiped out all the members of Rain‘s Army and will take out the leader, Rain on 3/5 at the 4 Year Anniversary iPPV.
Before the main event, the 2011 WSU Hall of Fame Class was announced. Amy Lee will be inducting LUNA VACHON. Nikki Roxx will be inducting APRIL HUNTER. Jazz will be inducting IVORY. Ivory & April Hunter will both be at the show to accept their awards in person. Luna Vachon’s award will be mailed to her family.
Mercedes Martinez d. Angel Orsini in a Title vs Title Ladder match, that went 40 minutes. Words do not give this match justice. It is a match you need to see for yourself and was the first womens wrestling match of the year candidate for 2011. After the match, Martinez & Orsini had a heartfelt moment and said this feud was never about hatred, but about proving who was the best. Martinez said Orsini is always welcome to challenge her for the championship in the future. After the performance Orsini had, WSU officials agreed after the event, and has rescinded the stipulation from 2009 that Orsini could no longer challenge for the WSU World Title.
After their emotional moment which showed class and pure sportsmanship, Martinez addressed rumors of her future and said no matter what, she has one thing left to do in WSU and that was to get revenge on Serena Deeb. Serena Deeb previously decimated Mercedes Martinez at our “Martinez vs Rain II” DVD taping and CUT Martinez’s hair off. Mercedes said she will be ready on 3/5 at the “Four Year Anniversary” iPPV to take on Serena Deeb.
However, before the show was about to end, Alicia came out with a referee in tow. Everyone thought Alicia was cashing in her title match contract. Instead, Alicia said she respects Orsini & Martinez, and mentioned all three’s history together in WSU. In the history of WSU, there are three people that have defined this company the most, and they are Alicia, Angel Orsini & Mercedes Martinez. Alicia said she respects the championship too much and after the effort Orsini & Martinez put out, she respected that championship even more. Alicia said that while she wasn’t going to take the cheap route tonight, she will be challenging for a championship on 3/5 and put Mercedes Martinez on notice. Alicia said tonight was Orsini’s & Martinez’s night and told them to enjoy it.
After Alicia left the ring, Martinez & Orsini embraced. If this is truly “The Final Chapter” in the Orsini/Martinez saga, there couldn’t have been a more perfect ending. However, women wrestling fans are hoping for this story to have another sequel.
