The 2012 WWE No Way Out pre-show kicks off with Matt Striker and Scott Stanford hyping up tonight’s card.
We go backstage where Primo, Epico and Rosa Mendes are arguing with Abraham Washington. They want to know what’s up with their tag team title shot. AW has put them in a fatal four-way match with the winners being the new #1 contenders. AW promises them a great spotlight by the end of the night. Later on, it’ll be The Usos vs. Primo and Epico vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel vs. Titus O’Neil and Darren Young.
We see footage from this past week where David Otunga attacked Brodus Clay on SmackDown.
Brodus Clay vs. David Otunga
We go to the ring and out first comes Brodus Clay with Cameron and Naomi dancing. David Otunga is out next for the pre-show match.
Otunga goes for the injured knee early but Clay takes him to the corner. Clay takes Otunga down first as the match gets off to a slow start. Brodus with headbutts to the back now. Brodus hits a big suplex. Brodus takes Otunga to the corner and hits him with body shots.
Otunga takes out Clay’s knee and down he goes. Otunga focuses on the injured knee of Clay now. Clay tries to fight back but Otunga beats him down. Otunga with barely a 2 count. Otunga goes back to work on the knee of Clay. Clay tries to fight back out of the corner but Otunga drops him with a neckbreaker. Otunga poses as the crowd boos. Otunga goes back to work on the knee. Otunga with another pin attempt. Clay comes back and knocks Otunga down. Clay with headbutts now. Clay hits the big overhead suplex and Otunga ends up out on the floor. Otunga goes to re-enter the ring at the 8 count but stops and stares at the referee. Otunga allows himself to get counted out.
Winner by Count Out: Brodus Clay
Otunga poses as the referee calls for the bell. Clay and his dancers begin to celebrate as Otunga looks on from the stage.
We go to a video for the 1,000th RAW.
Josh Mathews is backstage with John Cena. He asks Cena if this may be the last time we see him. Cena cuts a promo on tonight’s steel cage match. He says the match will shake the foundation of WWE because either he or John Laurinaitis will get fired. Cena says the face of WWE will change tonight and there is No Way Out of that.
The 2012 WWE No Way Out pay-per-view opens up with a video package for tonight’s steel cage main event with John Cena vs. Big Show.
We’re live from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey as the pyro goes off and Michael Cole welcomes us to No Way Out. Cole is joined by Booker T and Jerry Lawler.
World Heavyweight Title Match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus
We go to the ring and out first comes the World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus.
The challenger Dolph Ziggler is out next and he’s got Vickie Guerrero right behind him. Lilian Garcia does formal ring introductions before we get the bell.
Vickie and Dolph have a strategy session on the apron before things begin. Vickie kisses Dolph good luck on the cheek. Dolph turns around and ducks a big Brogue Kick from Sheamus. Dolph retreats to the floor but comes right back in arguing with the referee. Ziggler almost gets dropped again and back to the floor he goes to regroup. Ziggler comes back in and goes behind on a lock up. They tangle until Sheamus drops him with an elbow to the head. Sheamus with a headlock takedown now. Sheamus drops Ziggler with a shoulder. Sheamus with another big takedown.
Sheamus takes control until Ziggler connects with a dropkick. Sheamus sends Ziggler back to the mat with another shoulder. Ziggler comes back and goes for the sleeper hold but can’t get it locked tight. Ziggler ends up on the top rope. Sheamus backs off and gets slapped. Sheamus comes right back and knocks Ziggler off the top and out to the floor. Sheamus slams Ziggler into the apron before bringing it back in the ring. Sheamus launches himself over the top with a big shoulder for a 2 count. Sheamus works on Ziggler’s arm now. Ziggler fights out and wails away on Sheamus in the corner. They tangle on the apron again. Dolph goes up top, leaps off but Sheamus catches him in mid-air. Ziggler counters that but gets dropped by a big back elbow. Sheamus with a neckbreaker for another 2 count. Ziggler ends back up on the apron. Sheamus fights him. Sheamus gets pulled into the turnbuckle and down he goes on the floor. Ziggler brings it back in the ring and hits a big DDT for a 2 count.
Ziggler continues the assault until Sheamus fights back with knees and punches. Ziggler stops him with a knee to the gut and a 1 count. Ziggler with a headlock now as he does some showing off with Sheamus on the mat. Sheamus fights to his feet and out of the hold. Sheamus puts Dolph on his shoulders but Dolph counters and brings him down with a big DDT. Ziggler with a 2 count. More offense from Ziggler. Sheamus fights back but Dolph dropkicks him for another 1 count. Ziggler applies a body scissors now. Sheamus fights out again. Ziggler counters and rolls Sheamus up for a close 2 count as he used the ropes for leverage but got caught. Ziggler argues and Sheamus rolls him up for a close 2 count. Ziggler with a swinging neckbreaker for another pin attempt. Ziggler goes back to the mat with a submission on Sheamus. Ziggler with a big kick to the face but Sheamus runs over him with two big ax handles. Sheamus misses the high knee and Ziggler jumps on his back with the sleeper. Sheamus dumps Ziggler to the apron and breaks the hold. Ziggler climbs up top and comes down with a crossbody but Sheamus barely catches him. They tangle and Sheamus goes for White Noise but it’s blocked. Sheamus misses a spear in the corner and Ziggler hits Zig Zag for a close 2 count.
The crowd chants for Ziggler now. Sheamus gets attacked in the corner but fights back. Sheamus goes up top but Ziggler runs up and grabs him. Ziggler drops Sheamus face first on the mat and covers him for a close 2 count. Ziggler grabs his knee in pain as Vickie screams at ringside. Ziggler goes for the sleeper but Sheamus counters with the Irish Curse backbreaker. Sheamus with the big forearm shots to the chest on the apron now. Ziggler fights back and goes for the sleeper again. Sheamus turns it into White Noise and gets hyped up. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick and nails it for the win.
Winner: Sheamus
Vince McMahon is backstage walking when John Laurinaitis walks up. Laurinaitis suggests Vince stay away from ringside since he has a concussion. Vince doesn’t have anything to say, he just walks off. Laurinaitis goes on but Vince stops him and slams his dressing room door. Josh Mathews approaches Laurinaitis for comment. Laurinaitis rips him and says he has a show to run, tonight, tomorrow and into the future. Laurinaitis storms off.
Tuxedo Match: Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Santino Marella
We go to the ring and out first comes WWE United States Champion Santino Marella for this non-title match. Santino is wearing an old school tuxedo. Out next comes Ricardo Rodriguez in his usual tuxedo. The first man to be stripped of his tux loses. They play to the crowd to start the match and obviously Santino gets the pops. Santino shoves Ricardo and gets shoved back. Ricardo rips the front pocket off Santino’s tux. Santino does the same to him and then rips off a sleeve. Ricardo rips Santino’s jacket but gets slapped.
Santino with an atomic drop. He then rips Ricardo’s jacket off and taunts him with it like he’s a charging bull. Ricardo ends up on the floor. He comes back in and gets hit with a drop toe hold. Santino takes off Ricardo’s shoes next. The crowd chants boring as Santino takes Ricardo from corner to corner. Santino takes off Ricardo’s shirt next. Ricardo has a bowtie and pants on now. Santino with a big hip toss and out comes the Cobra. Ricardo rakes Santino’s eyes and throws the Cobra out of the ring. Ricardo takes off Santino’s shoes, socks and pants now. Santino has his jacket and shirt on. One of Santino’s socks is a Cobra and Ricardo can’t pull it off. Santino hits Ricardo with a Cobra kick and strips off his pants for the win. Ricardo is wearing white briefs with Alberto Del Rio’s face on the back.
Winner: Santino Marella
Ricardo runs off with Alberto’s face on his rear as Santino has his hand raised from the ring.
Matt Striker is backstage with CM Punk. He asks about AJ Lee. Punk says the match tonight isn’t about AJ. It’s about his WWE Title. AJ walks up and gives him a kiss on the cheek for good luck. Punk says thanks but luck is for losers and walks off as she smiles at him.
WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Christian
We go to the ring and out first comes Cody Rhodes followed by the WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian.
They lock up for a minute and Christian goes down first. Christian comes back with clotheslines, sending Cody to the corner. Cody shoves Christian but gets slapped to the mat. Cody comes in with a big shoulder thrust. He tries to suplex Christian to the floor but Christian ends up bringing him out to the floor. Christian runs the ropes and dropkicks Cody through the ropes. Cody trips Christian and he falls face first on the apron and rolls out to the floor. Cody brings it back in and drops Christian by his arm for a 2 count. Cody drops knees on Christian’s arm now.
More back and forth. Christian pulls Cody’s legs out around the ring post but Cody pulls him into the post. Cody brings Christian back in the ring and suplexes him face first for a 2 count. Cody goes back to work on Christian’s arm. Christian goes up top and ends up on the outside again after Cody shoves him. Christian slams Cody into the steel steps and hits a big tornado DDT from the steps to the floor. More back and forth action. Christian goes for Killswitch but Cody counters. Christian goes for the big right hand from the floor but it’s countered. Christian goes up top for a crossbody but Cody rolls through and turns it into a 2 count. Christian goes for a roll and Cody counters again.
Christian climbs up with Cody and brings him back down with a hurricanrana for a 2 count. More back and forth. Cody slams Christian down by his arm and covers for another 2 count. Cody blocks Killswitch again and hits the Alabama Slam for a 2 count. Christian counters this time with an inverted DDT. Christian readies for a spear but Cody scrambles out to the floor and back in the ring. Christian goes for the roll up again but Cody drops down for a 2 count. Christian hits Killswitch out of nowhere for another close 2 count. Christian goes for the frogsplash but Cody gets his knees up. Christian blocks the Disaster Kick. Christian has Killswitch blocked again. Cody misses the Disaster Kick again. Christian nails a spear for the win.

Primo and Epico vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel vs. Titus O’Neil and Darren Young vs. The Usos
We go to the ring and out first comes Primo and Epico with AW and Rosa Mendes at their sides. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel are out next followed by Titus O’Neil and Darren Young. The Usos come out next with their Samoan war dance. The winners will be the new #1 contenders to the WWE Tag Team Titles.
Titus starts off with Jey Uso. Titus botches something as Darren Young comes in for a double team move. The Usos work over Young now and double team him in the corner. Epico tags himself in but gets dropped by a Uso for a pin attempt. More double teaming from The Usos. Gabriel tags himself in and goes at it with Uso. They end up squaring off after missing each others moves. Uso tags in his brother and they hit a double team Samoan Drop. Uso drops both Primo and Epico and then Darren Young. Titus tags in and steals the pin attempt on Gabriel for 2. Titus works over Gabriel now and slams him down hard. Titus tags in Young and this time they hit the double team move for a 2 count.
More offense from Young and Titus on Gabriel. Gabriel fights out of a Young headlock. Back and forth until Gabriel connects with a heel kick. Epico tags in and goes at it with Gabriel now. Primp and Epico with the double teaming and the tag in the corner now. Epico with a big dropkick for a 2 count. Epico hits three straight back drops and covers Gabriel for 2. Primo comes in with more offense on Gabriel and another 2 count. Gabriel finally tags in Kidd. Kidd comes in and unloads on Primo. Kidd with a 2 count. Kidd leg drops Primo on the apron and climbs up top. Kidd with a blockbuster for a 2 count as Epico comes in and breaks it up. Epico and Gabriel end up on the floor. Kidd tries for an elbow on Primo but its blocked. Primo with a Backstabber until Titus breaks the pin up. The Usos take out Titus with a pair of kicks. Usos dive through the ropes and take out several guys on the floor. Primo with a 2 count on Kidd now. Young tags in on Kidd’s back. Kidd kicks him to the mat. Kidd gets dropped by Primo. Tyson goes up top with Primo and hurricanranas him into the other guys on the floor. Everyone is now down on the floor as AW cheers his guys on.
AW rolls Primo in the ring where Young is. Young drops Primo with a big knees to the gut for the win and #1 contendership.
Winners: Titus O’Neil and Darren Young
After the match, AW enters the ring and raises the hands of O’Neil and Young. Epico and Primo argue with AW as Rosa enters the ring and runs her mouth. Epico drops AW with a right hand. O’Neil and Young attack them from behind and clean house. AW raises their hands again as a new group is formed.
We get a look back at happenings in the feud between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. Triple H’s music hits and out he comes to a big pop.
Triple H talks about how he’s not really a corporate guy – he’s a fighter and an ass kicker. Triple H says Brock Lesnar thinks he’s also a fighter and an ass kicker. Triple H says the last time he saw Lesnar in the ring, he got jumped from behind and his arm broke. Triple H says his arm is feeling a lot better and in a few weeks, it should be 100%. A few weeks after that, he should be back in fighting shape. Triple H says that brings us to the middle of summer some time and proposes a fight for SummerSlam. Get rid of the lawyers, the lawsuits, all the legal junk. Get rid of the fat balding manager, referring to Paul Heyman. Triple H says this is about them two doing what they do – being fighters. Triple H says he wants to fight Lesnar bad. Triple H gets all angry and declares he wants to fight. Triple H says or Brock can be happy with being a quitter. Triple H says he will be waiting and drops the mic before walking to the back.
Daniel Bryan is backstage warming up when AJ Lee appears. She wants to talk but he’s not trying to hear it. AJ says after all that they have been through, she hasn’t gotten over him. AJ wishes him good luck tonight and kisses him before walking off.
WWE Divas Title Match: Beth Phoenix vs. Layla
We go to the ring and out first comes Beth Phoenix. The WWE Divas Champion Layla is out next.
They go to lock up and Layla goes behind. They trade holds and go to the corner to break. Beth strikes with a big kick and a clothesline. Beth taunts Layla and says she can’t lace her boots. Beth yells at the fans also. Layla comes back but Beth catches her on her shoulders. Layla drops down and dropkicks her leg out. Layla mocks Beth now and impersonates her. Beth charges and Layla goes to the floor and runs back in the ring. Beth charges and Layla slams her face first. Layla goes for a kick to the head and Beth covers her head. Layla makes her jump before kicking her for a 2 count. Beth comes back and sends Layla out to the floor. Beth gets angry and tosses her into the barrier.
Beth brings it back in the ring for a 2 count. More back and forth. Beth with a backbreaker. She holds Layla over her knee and bends her back. Layla fights out with knees to the head. Beth goes for the Glam Slam but Layla fights out and slams down on Beth for a 2 count. Layla with another 2 count from a takedown. Layla with kicks to the head and a crossbody from the corner for another 2 count. Beth gets Layla up for a big powerslam and covers for 2. Beth presses Layla over her head and holds it. Layla turns it into a big DDT from up high for another pin attempt. Beth picks Layla up and rams her back into the corner. Layla comes back with a neckbreaker out of nowhere for the win.
Winner: Layla
AJ finds Kane backstage and wises him good luck, then kisses him. She goes to walk off but Kane pulls her back and kisses her back. They kiss for about a minute before Kane walks off, leaving AJ looking confused.
Sin Cara vs. Hunico
We go to the ring and out comes Camacho with Hunico. Sin Cara is out next for a match against his old rival. The bell rings and they go right at it. Hunico with a big dropkick. Cara fights out of a hold and sends Hunico out to the floor. Cara charges but Hunico kicks him in the head and he falls to the floor. Hunico brings it back in the ring with a senton for a 2 count.
Hunico keeps control of the match and gets another pin attempt. Hunico beats Cara around with chops. Cara tries for a comeback but gets caught in a big backbreaker. Hunico takes Cara back to the mat and keeps him grounded. Hunico keeps stopping Cara from making a comeback. Hunico catches Cara with a second powerbomb but he kicks out at 2 again. Cara finally connects with a takedown. Cara comes back and hits a hurricanrana from the top. Cara with a pair of dropkicks and kicks to the gut. Hunico stops Cara with boots from the corner. Cara with his faceplant finisher for the win out of nowhere.
Winner: Sin Cara
WWE Title Match: Kane vs. Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk
We go to the ring and out first comes Kane. Daniel Bryan is out next followed by the WWE Champion CM Punk. The crowd finally wakes up as Punk makes his entrance. Justin Roberts does formal ring introductions before the bell.
The bell rings and Kane strikes Punk while Bryan hits Kane from behind. Kane pushes Bryan off and goes back to Punk. Bryan unloads on Kane but gets stopped. Kane grabs for a double chokeslam. Bryan and Punk team up to hit a series of kicks on Kane as the crowd chants YES. They take Kane down with a bunch of kicks and then both dropkick him. They trade pin attempts and stop each other from getting the pin. Punk and Bryan trade shots in the middle of the ring now. Punk fires back with forearms and dumps Bryan out to the floor. Punk charges but Kane clotheslines him for a 2 count. Kane works over Punk until Bryan hits from behind and sends him out to the floor. Bryan dives through the ropes and takes out Kane on the floor. Punk springboards up and leaps out onto both men.
Punk brings Bryan back into the ring for a 2 count. Kane trips Punk and brings him out to the floor, sending him hard into the barrier. Bryan charges and kicks Kane back. Bryan leaps from the apron but Kane uppercuts him in the throat. Kane rams Punk back into the ring post twice. Kane wraps Punk around the ring post and pulls his ribs into it. Kane with another pin attempt on Punk. Kane continues working on Punk. Kane with a dropkick to the face and another 2 count. Kane with a body scissors now. Punk fights out with elbows. Punk looks to be coming back but Bryan comes in from out of nowhere and dropkicks him in the corner. Bryan goes for Kane but gets caught with a big sideslam for 2.
More with Kane and Bryan. Kane goes down and to the floor after a big kick to the face. Punk gets up and chops Bryan now. Bryan stops Punk with a big knee to the gut. Bryan drops knees on Punk and covers him for another pin attempt. Bryan with a double underhook suplex. Bryan goes to the top but Punk stops him. Punk climbs up for a superplex but Kane pulls him off. Kane with a big right hand to Bryan, and another. Kane goes for the superplex but Punk pulls him down. Punk climbs back up but Kane pulls him down again. Kane goes for the superplex yet again but Punk stops him. They trade shots until Bryan takes them down with a double dropkick. Bryan with kicks to Punk and Kane as they both sit on their knees.
Kane goes down from a kick but Punk ducks it and rolls Bryan up for 2. Punk makes a comeback and hits the high knee in the corner. He nails one on Kane in the opposite corner. Kane blocks the bulldog. Punk with a neckbreaker on Kane for 2 as Bryan breaks it up. Punk with a powerslam on Bryan for 2. Punk climbs to the top but Bryan cuts him off. Bryan climbs up for a superplex but here comes Kane. Kane puts Bryan on his shoulders. Punk climbs up and clotheslines him off and then clotheslines Kane to the floor. Punk with a 2 count on Bryan. Punk slams Bryan and goes back to the top. Punk hits the elbow drop but Bryan kicks out at 2. Punk goes for GTS but Kane knocks them both down with a boot. Kane covers Punk for 2.
Kane with clotheslines for Punk. Punk moves out of the corner but gets dumped back to the apron. Punk drops Kane with a kick to the jaw. Punk climbs up for the big elbow drop but Kane moves out of the way and Punk crashes. Bryan climbs up to the top now and hits the flying headbutt on Punk. 2 count for Bryan. Bryan dumps Kane to the apron and knocks him out to the floor. More back and forth. Bryan drops Punk with a kick to the head. Bryan with the YES Lock on Punk now. Punk turns it into a 2 count. Punk goes for GTS and hits it. Kane pulls Bryan out of the ring and stops the pin from happening. Kane comes off the top with a big right hand for Punk. Kane calls for a chokeslam but Punk turns it into a DDT for 2. Punk goes back to the top and hits the big elbow drop on Kane for another pin attempt.
Punk goes for GTS but can’t get Kane up. Kane with a big boot. Kane chokeslams Punk and covers him for a close 2 count. Kane has words with the referee. Kane goes for the Tombstone but Punk slides out. AJ runs down and gets on the apron but Punk shoves Kane into her and she lands on the floor. Kane gets mad but Punk nails GTS on him for the win.
Winner: CM Punk
After the match, AJ is laid out on the floor. Kane scoops her up and carries her off to the back. Punk celebrates in the ring as we go back to replays.
Dan Delaney and Rob Grymes vs. Ryback
We go to the ring and Lilian Garcia introduces Rob Grymes and Dan Delaney. They cut a promo and sing about main eventing WrestleMania 29 across the street at MetLife Stadium. Ryback interrupts and out he comes.
The first guy charges and gets hit with a huge back drop. The other guy goes down. Ryback yells stupid at the first guy and presses him high before bringing him down with a big slam. The other guy gets slammed on his face. Ryback goes to the second rope and falls down with a big splash. Ryback grabs them both for the big double finisher and the win.
Winner: Ryback
We see the steel cage being lowered over the ring before they air a promo video for tonight’s main event.
Steel Cage Match: Big Show vs. John Cena
We go to the cage and out first comes John Laurinaitis. Laurinaitis takes a seat at ringside. Big Show is out next. No Chance hits next as Vince McMahon makes his way out, also taking a seat at ringside to watch. John Cena’s music hits and out he comes last.
The bell rings and they go at it. Show almost hits a chokeslam early but Cena fights back. Show overpowers and knocks Cena down with ease. Show tosses Cena into the cage and continues beating Cena around. Cena ducks the knockout punch and Show hits the cage. Cena climbs the cage but Show pulls him down. Cena takes Cena to the corner and drops him with a huge chop to the chest.
Show keeps control of the match as they go on. Cena fights back but Show levels him with a big clothesline. Show tosses Cena into the cage again, then stands on his chest. Show with more body blows in the corner. Show tells Cena the fans don’t care and he should quit. Show taunts the fans now. Show hits a big splash in the corner and continues to dominate the match.
Show puts his foot down on Cena’s head and continues to taunt him. Show charges in the corner and Cena gets his feet up. Cena with a bulldog but no pin attempt as Show shoves him off. Cena climbs the cage and Show stops him at the top. Show climbs up and pulls Cena back down to the top rope where they trade shots. Show falls and the rope hits between his legs. Cena leaps with a big shoulder that sends Show into the side of the cage. Cena climbs the cage again but Show grabs him and rams him into the cage before falling back with a big slam.
Show with another 2 count. Show goes to the second rope and comes down with a big slam for another pin attempt. Show lifts Cena up on the top rope but his throat. Show slams Cena back to the mat. Show leaps from the top rope with an elbow drop but Cena moves out of the way. Show goes to crawl out of the cage door but Cena tries to pull him back. Show edges back to the floor but Cena pulls him back in. Cena tries to escape the cage door now but Show pulls him in. Cena blocks a chokeslam and sends Show face first into the cage. Cena takes Show down with a big shoulder. Vince stops Laurinaitis after he hits the ringside referee as Cena tries to leave the cage. Vince shoves Laurinaitis down. Vince opens the door for Cena but Laurinaitis pushes Vince into the door. Show brings Cena back and chokeslams him for a close 2 count. Cena moves from the knockout punch and it hits the referee. The referee is out cold as Cena tries for an Attitude Adjustment. He can’t hit it and Show drops him with a knockout punch.
Brodus Clay comes down with a steel chair and opens the door. He dares Show to walk out of the cage and fight him. Clay shuts the door as Show starts to climb the cage. Clay is going to meet Show with the chair, no matter which way he escapes. Clay motions to the back and here comes Santino Marella and Alex Riley. They climb the cage but Show knocks them off and right back to the floor. Zack Ryder comes down to climb the cage but Show knocks him off with a right hand. Kofi Kingston runs down next and makes it over the top of the cage but Show grabs him. Kofi fights Show off with kicks from the top of the cage. Kofi stops Show and kicks him back to the mat. Kofi drops back to the floor. as both Cena and Show are down in the ring.
Cena tries to leave the cage but Show stops him. Cena connects with the AA on Show as Laurinaitis looks on. Cena covers Show but the referee is still knocked out. Clay stands guard at the door so Show can’t get out. Cena climbs the cage to escape it but Laurinaitis swings the crutch at him. Clay backs Laurinaitis off and holds him, allowing Show to climb out of the door and Cena fall to hit the floor. Cena apparently hit first as he is announced the winner of the match and his music begins to play.
Winner: John Cena
Cena tells Clay he can let go of Laurinaitis. Laurinaitis swings the crutch but Cena ducks. Cena picks up Laurinaitis for the Attitude Adjustment and holds it as Vince tells Ace he’s fired.
