“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

A video showcases Roman Reigns’ Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge. Reigns defended his title against Elias before being attacked from behind by Samoa Joe.

WWE RAW GM Kurt Angle kicks off the show

WWE RAW General Manager Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring while the crowd – respectfully – sings “You suck” to the tune of his music. Angle welcomes the crowd to the show and says we will have a great show tonight. We’ll see Cesaro and Sheamus defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Based on what occurred, we will have an Intercontinental Championship match with Roman Reigns…

Jason Jordan’s music hits. Kurt Angle’s son makes his way to the ring to loud boos. Jordan’s left knee is taped up. Jordan tries to speak, but the crowd drowns him out. Jordan says he wants Roman Reigns. Angle says he can’t be serious. His knee is still taped up. Jordan says his knee is fine and can do this. Ever since he’s been in the ring on RAW, he’s been in here with Roman Reigns, John Cena, Braun Strowman, Kane, and The Miz. He’s held his own with each of them. Reigns has issued an open challenge to anyone that wants to step up. Jordan says he wants to step up because he knows he can beat Roman Reigns. Jordan sheepishly says, “I just need a chance, Dad.”

Roman Reigns’ music hits, and he comes out to a very good reception. The WWE Intercontinental Champion gets in the ring, and the boos pick up now. Reigns says he’s a fighting champion, so he’s going to tell Angle who he’s fighting. It’s not going to be his son. He wants Samoa Joe. The crowd pops big for that. Reigns gives advice to Jordan: if he wants an opportunity, don’t run to daddy. Step up and be a man. Jordan says Reigns is the poster boy for everything the WWE management wants. Reigns says he’s right about one thing: he’s been on a lot of posters and chairs because he’s main evented a lot of shows. Reigns says he earned it and worked hard for seven years straight. If Jordan wants something, he’s not just going to get it. Jordan can step up and take it.

Samoa Joe’s music hits, and he comes out to a huge reception. Joe stays on the stage and says as much as he’d love to sit in the back and watch them talk tough, his patience has worn thin. If Reigns is done patronizing the kid, he accepts his challenge. At times he’s merciful. Joe will give him a reprieve and give him five seconds to rescind the challenge because Reigns knows he can’t beat him. Joe counts down and gets to zero. Jordan says he doesn’t have to try to talk tough. Unlike Joe, he actually is tough because he doesn’t have to go out and attack people from behind. Jordan issued a challenge to Reigns’ face and is going to challenge Joe right now. Angle orders Jordan to stay in the ring. Reigns says the five seconds are done… and Jordan turns him around to give him an overhead belly-to-belly suplex! Angle holds Jordan back and gets him out of the ring. Reigns angrily gets to his feet and says it’s not going down like this. Joe can wait for later tonight. Jordan can get it right now. Reigns tells Angle to make the match! Angle calls for a referee to come out.
