Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports that former WWE Champion CM Punk’s UFC debut against the 2-0 Mickey Gall has been delayed again. Punk is scheduled to undergo back surgery in Chicago today for a herniated disc.

Punk has been battling the back injury since his pro wrestling days but the injury recently worsened. Punk said he learned of the surgery from his doctor right before learning of his UFC debut opponent on Saturday. He commented on the injury:

“My back has always bugged me. Figured it was just wrestling sh*t. Turns out it was. It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.”

“This is just a bump in the road. I’m positive about this.”
