WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

5/10 Raw house show results from Wheeling, WV: Mickie James over Maryse in a non-title match; Sheamus O’Shaunessy over Jamie Noble; The Miz over Kofi Kingston; Chavo Guerrero over Festus; MVP over William Regal; Carlito & Primo over Legacy; Matt Hardy over Goldust; and Batista & John Cena over Randy Orton & Big Show.

5/10 Smackdown house show results from Fort Wayne, IN: Evan Bourne over Tyson Kidd; Vladimir Kozlov over Finlay; John Morrison over Shelton Benjamin; Gail Kim & Eve Torres over Natalya & Layla; CM Punk over Umaga via DQ; Christian & Tommy Dreamer over Jack Swagger & Mark Henry; Rey Mysterio over Chris Jericho; and Edge over Jeff Hardy.

Nothing of real note from the weekend shows. Angela Fong and Sheamus O’Shaunessy from developmental worked the tour. O’Shaunessy is using a Rock-bottom style finisher. Festus and Cena sang Country Roads West Virginia to close the show in Wheeling.

Raw is live tonight from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Nothing announced at press time nor any other WWE show this week. That probably means the script is being finalized as I write this.

There is a Smackdown house show tonight at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, and the TV taping is Tuesday from Wright State University in Dayton. We’re looking for reader reports to [email protected]

Interesting Q&A with Torrie Wilson at http://tinyurl.com/ps99g9 pushing NBC’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here. Much of the talk focused on her days in WWE. When asked about performance-enhancement drugs in wrestling, she said: “I honestly don’t know. I wouldn’t know, personally, if any of the other women used drugs. I can only speak for myself in saying that I am a very anti-steroids and anti whatever agents that you need to look the way you want to look. I believe in the old adage of eating well and working out. I’m a big runner, so as long as you’re running, you can get in your bikini.” She said using drugs is a personal choice: “As far as the wrestlers using drugs or abusing drugs, just like any athlete in the world, you have to look at the person. The only person that can be blamed is the person that is actually taking the pill.”

Superstars on WGN on 5/7 did a 1.0 rating it’s best number to date.

The 5/9 Raw house show at Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, OH drew 7100 paid.

Kurt Angle is off the Carolinas tour this weekend due to shooting scenes for a movie this week in Pittsburgh. He has a supporting role as a Russian MMA fighter in a movie called Warrior. The Miami Herald at http://tinyurl.com/o6orc3 has a story on Bret Hart pushing his autobiography. He feels both Mick Foley and Chris Jericho did a good job with their books although with Jericho “there is a lot of sanitizing to sort of make the [WWE] look good and protect themselves.”
He said the last conversation he had with Vince McMahon was about putting his father and Owen into the Hall of Fame: “…  I don’t know how you can have a Hall of Fame and not credit or at least honor Owen and even my father.” He put over Tyson Kidd, DH Smith and Natalya saying if they formed a new Hart Foundation they would have his blessing: “I’m all for it. I hope it’s not something that holds them down. I think they all have enough talent that they don’t need my history, Bulldog or Neidhart or my dad’s history. They are all capable of making it on their own. They are all really exceptional, but at the same time, if they can take what we built and run with it, they can take the name further and keep the tradition alive.” He also put over ROH and didn’t rule out working for TNA in the future: “I have some good friends down there in TNA and would love to help them. However, I don’t see anything on their show where I would be any use to them, unless I wanted to play the role of some type of commissioner, chairperson, referee or even an announcer.
Those are all things I don’t really want to do.”

A reader who works for Best Buy emailed us and said stores nationwide have a TNA DVD sale starting today with many titles at $4.99.
