Career Highlights

In the Beginning:

  • Scott Steiner is the younger brother of Rick Steiner, and they formed a dominant tag team known as The Steiner Brothers.
  • Scott Steiner is a one-time All-American wrestler out of University of Michigan.
  • ~~~He recieved 6th Place at the 1986 NCAA championships 190 lbs his senior year.
  • ~~~He was also a 3x Big 10 Runner Up getting 2nd place his sophomore, Junior, and senior year.

Getting into the Business:

  • Scott Steiner began his pro career in World Wrestling Association in Indianapolis as “Scott Rechsteiner”.
  • August 1986: Scott Rechsteiner defeated Greg Wojokowski to win the WWA World Heavyweight title.
  • ~~~He held the belt for nearly 9 months, before Greg Wojokowski recaptured the title.
  • Scott Rechsteiner and Jerry Graham Jr defeated Chris Carter and Mohammad Saad to win the WWA tag team titles.
  • ~~~They held the belts for about two months before Chris Carter and Don Kent won the titles.
  • Jan-Jun 1988 – AWA Renegade Rampage Tournament: Scott Rechsteiner won the ‘phantom’ tournament.
  • 1988: Scott Rechsteiner moved on, getting a job with Championship Wrestling Association out of Memphis.
  • May 1988: Scott Rechsteiner and Billy Travis defeated the Cuban Choir Boys to win the CWA tag team titles.
  • ~~~A week later, they lost the titles to Gary Young and Don Bass.
  • ~~~Scott Rechsteiner and Billy Travis recaptured the CWA tag team titles a month later.
  • ~~~Eventually, the RockNRoll RPMs defeated Scott Rechsteiner and Billy Travis for the belts.
  • ~~~Scott Rechsteiner and Billy Travis split up, and Scott found a new partner in Jeb Grundy.
  • February 1989: Scott Rechsteiner and Jeb Grundy beat Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden to win the CWA tag team titles.
  • ~~~Shortly thereafter, Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden recaptured the championships.
  • Scott Rechsteiner left the CWA and joined up with his brother Rick Steiner in the NWA/World Championship Wrestling.

  • June 1989 – Clash Of The Champions VII: Mike Rotunda and Kevin Sullivan defeated The Steiner Brothers.
  • July 23, 1989 – The Great American Bash: The Steiners beat Kevin Sullivan and Mike Rotundo in a “Texas Tornado” match.
  • September 12, 1989 – Clash Of The Champions VIII: The Freebirds defeated The Steiner Brothers to retain the WCW tag team titles.
  • October 28, 1989 – Halloween Havoc: Doom (Butch Reed and Ron Simmons) defeated The Steiner Brothers.
  • November 1, 1989: The Steiner Brothers defeated The Fabulous Freebirds for the WCW World tag team titles.
  • November 15, 1989 – Clash Of The Champions IX: The Steiner Brothers defeated The Skyscrapers (Dan Spivey and Sid Vicious) by disqualification.
  • December 13, 1989 – Starrcade: The Steiner Brothers placed 2nd in an Iron Man Tag Team Tournament.
  • ~~~The Steiners beat Doom by CO, beat The Road Warriors by pin, and lost to Fatu/Samoan Savage by disqualification.
  • May 19, 1990 – Capitol Carnage: Doom (Ron Simmons and Butch Reed) defeated The Steiner Brothers for the tag team titles.
  • July 7, 1990 – The Great American Bash: The Steiner Brothers beat The Fabulous Freebirds.
  • September 5, 1990 – Clash Of The Champions XII: The Steiner Brothers defeated Tim Hunt and Jeff Warner.
  • October 27, 1990 – Halloween Havoc: The Steiner Brothers defeated The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags).
  • November 20, 1990 – Clash Of The Champions XIII: The Steiner Brothers defeated Magnum Force (1 and 2) to retain the tag team titles.
  • December 16, 1990 – Starrcade: The Steiner Brothers beat 3 teams to win the Pat O’Connor Internation Tag Team Tournament.
  • ~~~The Steiners beat Sgt. Krueger/Col. DeKlerk (1st), and Konnan/Rey Mysterio (2nd), and The Great Muta/Mr Saito (finals).
  • January 30, 1991 – Clash Of The Champions 14: Ric Flair vs Scott Steiner ended in a Draw (Ric Flair retains the World title).
  • March 18, 1991: The Steiner Brothers once again beat The Freebirds to capture their second Tag Team title!
  • March 21, 1991 – WCw/ NJPW SuperShow: The Steiners defeated Hiroshi Hase and Kensuke Sasaki winning the IWGP Tag Titles.
  • May 19, 1991 – SuperBrawl: The Steiner Brothers beat Sting and Lex Luger to retain the WCW tag team titles.
  • June 14, 1991 – Clash Of The Champions 15: The Steiner Brothers defeated Masa Chono and Hiro Hase to retain the IWGP tag team titles.
  • August 1991: Scott Steiner went down to an injury (WCW titles were vacated and Scott Norton replaced Scotty in IWGP).
  • October 27, 1991 – Halloween Havoc: The Steiner Brothers participated in the vicious “Chamber of Horrors” Cage Match.
  • ~~~Sting, El Gigante, Rick and Scott Steiner beat Abdullah the Butcher, Cactus Jack, Diamond Studd and Big Van Vader.

  • January 4, 1992 – WCw/ NJPW SuperShow: Sting and Keiji Mutoh defeated The Steiner Brothers.
  • January 21, 1992 – Clash Of The Champions 18: The Steiner Brothers defeated Big Van Vader and Mr Hughes.
  • February 29, 1992 – SuperBrawl: Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton defeated The Steiner Brothers by disqualification to retain.
  • May 3, 1992: The Steiner Brothers defeated Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton to capture their 3rd WCW Tag Team title.
  • June 1992: The Steiners beat Big Van Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow to recapture the IWGP tag team titles.
  • July 5, 1992: Terry Gordy and Steve Williams defeated The Steiner Brothers to capture the WCW tag team titles.
  • ~~~Soon after, Rick Steiner left WCW, although he and Scott still wrestled together as the team in Japan.
  • September 2, 1992 – Clash Of The Champions 20: Rick Rude and Jake Roberts and Invader and Vader defeated Sting and Nikita Koloff and The Steiner Brothers.

World Championship Wrestling – Scott Steiner:

  • September 1992: Scott Steiner defeated Ricky Steamboat to win the WCW Television title.
  • November 1992: Scott Norton and Tony Halme beat the Steiner Bros for the IWGP tag team titles.
  • Scott and Rick Steiner signed with the WWF, and Scott vacated his WCW Television title.

  • January 11, 1993 – RAW: The Steiner Brothers defeated The Executioners.

  • April 5, 1993 – RAW: The Steiner Brothers defeated The Beverly Brothers.

  • January 25, 1997 – Souled Out: The Steiners defeated The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) to win the Tag titles.
  • ~~~The decision was reversed, however, by Eric Bischoff, who was President of WCW, and a member of the nWo.
  • The Steiners continued to wrestle against the nWo, eventually getting an ex-nWo member as their manager, Ted DiBiase.
